Celebrating Collaboration 3
Peter Sheppard Skaerved presents two talks in this ongoing series exploring the collaboration between performers and composers, alive and deceased, and between music and the arts.
Only Connect! Meetings and collaborations
What are the links between Beethoven, Fanny Burney, T S Eliot, Emma Hamilton, Brunel, Angelica Catalani, Harriet Cohen, Jelly d'Arányi, David Garrick, Barbara Hepworth and Rebecca West? Exploring the connections, links, collaborations, strange meetings, conversations, and counterpoints that strike sparks between music, art, science, writing, engineering and more. Peter has explored this subject for many years, and his work, has resulted, amongst other things, in a major exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.
Music and Art – working with artists
One of Peter’s most intense collaborations in recent years has been with the great living Norwegian artist Jan Groth. Their work together resulted in a large-scale cycle ‘A Futhork for Jan Groth’, commissioned by the Bergen International Festival and premiered at Kunsthallen Bergen alongside a major retrospective of Groth’s works. Their collaboration reached far beyond the studio, to Spitzbergen and Minnesota, and the project continues to expand.
