Patrick Gundry-White

Alexander Technique, Buteyko

Patrick came to the Alexander Technique primarily to help with performance issues as a professional horn player. He soon realised that the technique could help in many ways and decided to train as a teacher. After graduating from Fellside Alexander School, Kendal, in 1990, Patrick was invited to become a member of staff, specialising in performance and voice studies. Soon after, he began working at a major NHS Surgery & building up his private practices. He works individually with members of the Hallé Orchestra and gives group workshops and individual lessons with members of the BBC Philharmonic. He has run workshops and given lectures to students at the Royal College of Music in London, the Royal Northern College of Music and Leeds College of Music. Patrick is currently a member of staff at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. He still performs on the French horn, composes and arranges music for Whaley Choir, as well as being its music director. He also regularly conducts the High Peak Orchestra. To all these musical pursuits he finds the practical applications of the Alexander Technique continue to inspire his own music making and also enable him to help and inspire others to surpass their own ability to perform.
