Joanna Wronko

Violin

Joanna Wronko is a versatile musician with a broad experience as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra player. Currently she holds a position of the first concertmaster at the Noord Nederlands Orkest.

Freelancer for many years, Joanna worked with more than 20 European orchestras, touring with Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart and more recently with Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in Europe, Asia and the United States. She has spent 2 years working in UK as Co-Principal 2nd violin in productions of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Principal 2nd violin with London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, English Chamber Orchestra and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Joanna has also worked as assistant concertmaster with Nederlands Kamerorkest, Residentie Orkest and Orkest van het Oosten. Beside her current position at the NNO she has been asked to guest lead orchestras in Norway and Portugal. These performances have been cancelled due to the pandemic. She guest leads the Balletorkest at the National Opera & Ballet Hall in Amsterdam.

She has worked with Bernard Haitink, Andris Nelsons, Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniel Harding, Antonio Pappano and many others.

Born in Poland, Joanna studied in Freiburg, Germany with Professor Magdalena Rezler and later in Hamburg, where she completed her Solo Diploma (Konzertexamen) with Professor Kolja Blacher. During her studies she took part in master classes with Zakhar Bron, Herman Krebbers, Gerhard Schulz, Pierre Amoyal, Ida Haendel, Leonidas Kavakos, and Ivry Gitlis.

In 2009 she made a CD entitled “The French-Polish album” with pianist Frank van de Laar, released by German label ARS MUSICI which “De Volkskrant” chosen as a top 10 CD’s of 2009.

Next to her native Polish she speaks English, German, Dutch and Italian.
