A former member of the Salzburger Festspiele’s prestigious Young Singers Project, Irish soprano Claudia Boyle has earned her stellar international reputation through highly-acclaimed performances in Zurich, Rome, Dresden, London, Berlin, and New York. Claudia has won both the First Prize and the Critics Award at The Maria Callas Competition in Verona where the Callas Estate presented her with the miraculous medal once owned and worn by the legendary singer. This precious gift, which Maria Callas brought to all of her performances has encouraged and inspired Claudia greatly in her career. She was also awarded both the first prize and critics award at the International s’Hertogenbosch competition in the Netherlands. She received The National Concert Hall’s ‘Rising Star’ award in 2012. Career highlights include her main stage debut at Covent Garden earlier this year in Gerald Barry’s Alice’s Adventures Underground singing the title role, her role debut as Verdi’s Gilda (Rigoletto) at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma under Renato Palumbo to overwhelming audience and critical acclaim, her company debut with English National Opera as Mabel in Mike Leigh’s production of The Pirates of Penzance and her performance in Cherubini’s Chant sur la mort de Joseph Haydn under Riccardo Muti. Claudia looks forward to her main stage debut for Minnesota Opera in the uutumn singing Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail. With a fast expanding discography, Claudia has recorded the role of Dede in Bernstein’s A Quiet Place under the baton of Kent Nagano for DECCA and the role of ‘the Woman’ in Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh’s new opera The last Hotel for Cantaloupe Music.
