Learn Scottish and Irish Fiddle Tunes - A Collaboration with Zoë Conway and Donald Grant

Zoë Conway, Donald Grant

1 Zoe Donald half each

What happens when two musical cultures meet? And what would it sound like when they interweave their rich melodies? Join this incredible session to find out!
Zoë Conway effortlessly combines a background steeped in Ireland’s rich aural music tradition with a strong founding in classical music. She has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras as well as musicians as diverse as Donal Lunny, Lisa Hannigan, Nick Cave and Bill Whelan.
Donald was brought up in the small village of Roybridge in the Highlands of Scotland. When not running around the hills or climbing he could be found playing music of all sorts and it quickly became his life’s passion. He grew up immersed in traditional music as his father was a Gaelic singer and teacher. He sang songs from when he could speak and loved attending courses at Sabhal Mor Ostaig and attending the National Mod and Feisan nan Gaidheal. Mostly he just loved playing WITH people.
Donald and Zoë will join forces in this singular session and each introduce one tune. By way of demonstration, and breaking it down phrase by phrase, they will lead you through until you can play with them!
Notes and a recording of the tune will be available to participants upon registering.
