Emi Ohi Resnick

A native of New York City, Emi Ohi Resnick made her debut in Carnegie Hall at the age of fifteen and has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Japan since then.

Emi is a founding member of the unique collective Splendor and co-initiator of the strikingly successful String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam.

Already in its twenty-first year, her Ruysdael String Quartet has started an exciting season which includes concerts in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, De Doelen in Rotterdam, as well as tours of Japan and Turkey. The members of the quartet are artistic directors of the Zoom! Festival in Holland, the Summer Chamber Music Open in Burg Feistritz, Austria, and Linari Classics, in Italy. Highlights of the last few seasons include the honor of be invited to accompany their majesties the King and Queen of the Netherlands on their State visit to France, as well as a Wigmore Hall debut and a tour of Russia.

​Emi is often invited to be guest concertmaster of various orchestras throughout Europe. Recent thrilling experiences have been leading a tour, residency and a BBC Proms performance of The Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

​She has collaborated as soloist and chamber musician with prominent artists such as Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Frans Brüggen, Philip Glass, Gary Graffman, Ton Koopman, Siegfried Palm, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Thomas Riebl and Jörg Widmann.

​She studied at the Curtis Institute of Music with Szymon Goldberg, the Juilliard School with Louise Behrend and Robert Mann, the Prague Mozart Academy with Sándor Végh, and the Mozarteum of Salzburg with Thomas Riebl and Ruggiero Ricci, and has worked closely with the composer György Kurtág. She has been regularly invited to the Marlboro Music Festival and the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove, England.

​Emi currently divides her time between the United States and Europe, where she was concertmaster of the Netherlands Radio Chamber Orchestra and taught at the North Netherlands Conservatory.
