The pedagogy of D.C. Dounis is enjoying something of a revival after many years of neglect, his highly original and transformational approach to string playing helping countless players to overcome problems both physical and mental. His books of exercises are somewhat cryptic, however, and require detailed explanation to achieve results. In these workshops, Pavlo Beznosiuk will draw on his experience with three Dounis students and 30 years exploring and teaching the principles to shed light on the most important Dounis publications. The sessions will explore the most impactful exercises from: “The Dounis Violin Players’ Daily Dozen”, “The Development of Flexibility”, The Artists’ Technique of Violin Playing” and “The independence of three fingers”.
